To take Cobra King back to its configuration during the Battle of the
Bulge, 1944-style road wheels were traded from an M10 in front of the
museum with the late-style dish road wheels it presently has installed.
This photo shows the exchange in progress.

The time-consuming chore of removing Cobra King's paint by hand continues.
Here one of the front fenders is almost down to the bare metal.

The top surfaces are in the process of being scaled of old paint.

A powered
wire wheel will be used to remove the last traces of paint before the
prime coat is applied.

|

Because the last of Cobra King's road wheels have defied all efforts to
remove them, on July 17 Don and Robert worked on removing one of the bogie
assemblies to aid in the wheel removal.
|

Don works on using a breaker bar and cheater pipe to try and loosen the
bottom bolts holding the bogie assembly to the hull.

Robert helps
line up the socket on the bottom bolt. |

Don puts his
back into breaking the bolt free. |
