As Don was trying to place a jack underneath the left front bogie, he discovered something between the swing arms on the bogie. Charles takes a look for himself.

Apparently, a shipping tie-down implement was constructed and placed between the swing arms of both front bogies so that Cobra King could be tied down while aboard ship.

Here is a closer look at the top of the apparatus. It fits between the swing arm axle.

The tie down shackle hangs below between the road wheels.

Charles examines the right tie-down shackle. This discovery was totally unexpected and apparently Cobra King has had these tie-downs ever since she was shipped to France in 1944.

Both shackles are removed. One apparatus is separated on the right, and the other has been recombined on the left. Cobra King is still revealing her secrets.
