Even after the bulk of the paint has been removed, there is still a patina that will have to be buffed out before it is repainted.

The white interior paint proved even more difficult and will also require more sanding and buffing.

One unique feature of Cobra King is that when it was upgunned to the 76mm, a .50 caliber machine gun mount was added for the coax instead of the usual .30 cal. The mount and ammo tray are shown above.

Parts from Cobra King are placed in bins and boxes so that everything that comes out can be accounted for.

During the removal of paint from the transmission housing, the remnants of a unit insignia was found showing traces of silver, green and a few flakes of yellow. This may be from the 37th or 63rd armored battalions painted on Cobra King when she was a static display.
