The restoration on the SdKfz 251/D 9 had begun many years ago but then suspended. Once the volunteers began the restoration process again, it was decided that the vehicle's superstructure should be comletely disassembled and sand-blasted to insure that there were no hidden areas of corrosion with a final goal of as pristine a restoration as possible.
